U BAR. A BRIEF HISTORY.

U Bar, formerly known as the dive bar Uncles, has been serving Philly’s LGBTQ+ community since 2012. Prior to that, founder Mort Wernik had opened the beloved gay bar Uncles in 1984. Running Uncle’s until his passing, Wernik was an active community leader and former president of the now-ceased Philadelphia LGBT Business Alliance.
