Location | Val's Lesbian Bar: 605 S 3rd St Philadelphia, PA

EVENT DETAILS

An evening to honor lesbians and queer folks of all ages, celebrating our stories and building intergenerational community.

In partnership with the American LGBTQ+ Museum and Dyke+ ArtHaus, we invite you to join us for a screening of the short documentary Old Lesbians, followed by a panel conversation with lesbians and queer women of all ages. Old Lesbians explores retired schoolteacher Arden Eversmeyer’s journey from Houston across the country to preserve hundreds of life stories with lesbians born in the first part of the 20th century through the Old Lesbian Oral Herstory Project, animating the pioneering, resilient voices contained within. The film was awarded Audible/Aesthetica’s 2023 Listening Pitch and commissioned by The Guardian and is doing educational screenings worldwide.

Following the screening, we invite attendees to join us for an intergenerational panel conversation. Tabling by local LGBTQ+ organizations throughout the evening.

OLD LESBIANS X YOUNG LESBIANS hopes to create new intergenerational queer spaces and explore what our growing community could look like well into the future. See you there!
